I'm pretty sure this is the part where I tell you about myself. OK well if you want to know I guess lets start with the basics. I'm 20 even though you would never know that by looking at me. I look more like 14, or 12, or 16 depending on how old you are, but if you could see me here you would never say 20 or even college. Speaking of college, I am a junior. College has been the best thing to ever happen to me.
As the tag line states this is about my journey to the top. But the top of what, the business world, the land of academia, maybe even the science community. Wrong on all three accounts. I am an aspiring filmmaker, a strange thing for a girl. For those that don't know, its not common for a woman to be a filmmaker, it is one of the professions that is still mostly men. That isn't necessarily why film is my calling but definitely part of it. Many times in my life I have been called a feminist and a flower child. I embrace both. Most often women that are behind the camera are generally editors, producers and casting directors. Obviously this is grossly simplified as there are many many fabulous writers, directors, script supervisors and all other positions in film-making that are women but those are the three most popular career choices.
As I said, college is the best thing that ever happened to me. And I believe that with all my heart. I am a Television and Film Production Major as well as a History Minor. I know this screams Nerd. And that is because that's true. I love almost all things nerdy. I'm in my schools Pep Band. I have met some of the greatest people I know there. This is where I met my best friend. The phrase, Opposites Attract, well that’s us and I couldn't be happier. I am a boy's girl. She is a girl's girl. I lean left, politically speaking, she leans right. I want nothing more than career success, she wants a man and to be the best wife and mom she will one day be. And more power to her. Now, back to Pep. Within 24 hours of moving into college, before I had the chances to even get to my first class, I ran into them (they were having a meeting) and I joined. Best run in ever. I have met so many amazing people and had some absolutely wonderful experiences. They were the first ones to get me drunk in college. They sent me on my first work trip, they pay for my food at school, and so many more things but it would just get redundant.
So this school that I’m talking about, where is it? New York City, the city that never sleeps. Now I’m about to let all of you non-New Yorkers in on a secret, it does sleep: between the hours of 12 and 5 on the weekdays and 1:30 and 7 on the weekends. These are the hours of late night service and if you want to go anywhere then triple the time you think it will take, trust me.
Well I think that’s enough. Can’t wait to see you again soon.
Love you tons ♥
